MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21 on State Route 309 near mile post 17, in Allen County.
The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes.
If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
SPENCERVILLE__The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team played to a scoreless tie with improved Spencerville in a non-league matchup on Thursday, August 20.
The Bulldog girls ran their record to 2-0-1 with the tie. The Bearcats are 1-0-1 after the result.
“We just couldn’t find the back of the net,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “We had multiple promising opportunities but no luck. We had a very slow start also.”
The Bulldog girls out-shot the Bearcats, 25-6.
Emily Gibson made six saves in goal for Ada.
The Bulldog girls are back in action on Monday, August 24 at home vs. Crestview (0-0).
LIMA__The visiting Ada High School golf team defeated Lima Senior decisively in a dual match at Tamarac Golf Club on Thursday, August 20.
The streaking Bulldogs won by 29 strokes, 193-222. Ada improved to 27-3 after the victory.
Ada senior ace Brody Rister again earned match medalist honors by firing a nine-hole round of 42.
First-year Bulldog golfer Case Vieira tied for second, shooting a 48 at the challenging, tight course.
“We played a different starting lineup today, which included junior D.J. Howell making his first-ever varsity start,” said second-year Ada head coach Tod Schmidt.
FROM FACEBOOK__The Village of Ada encourages drivers to exercise caution on Turner Avenue where it intersects with West Street. The intersection has been upgraded to a three-way stop in an effort to improve safety ahead of the new school year.
