FROM ODOT DISTRICT 1 FACEBOOK__The roundabout at SR 81 and Thayer is open. However, the bridge replacement project is not complete ; SR 81 will remain closed between McClure Road and Fisher Road over Patterson Ditch until early November.

VAN WERT__The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team scored early and late to defeat non-league rival Lincolnview 5-2 on Thursday night, October 9.

Ada built a 3-0 lead, then had to stave off a second-half Lancer rally by scoring two late goals to post the win.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season 11-4-2 with the victory. The Lancers fell to 3-11-1 after the defeat.

KENTON__Despite a 12-day layoff, the Ada High School girls soccer team defeated Hardin County rival Kenton 2-0 in a non-league match on Thursday, October 9 to make program history.

The historic win in the female version of the “309 Cup” game gave the Ada girls' program a single-season record 11 wins, breaking the mark set last year.

The Bulldog girls improved to 11-3-2 after the shutout win. Kenton dropped to 2-14-1 with the defeat.

Ada sophomore Avary Acheson scored both goals. Senior Kenley Poling and sophomore Ashley Williams each passed out one assist.

Chalmer Rowe, age 83, of Alger, Ohio, was born on September 27, 1942, to the late Jake and Effie Rowe.  He was peacefully called home to the Lord on October 8, 2025.  

Chalmer is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Kimberly (Ronald) Reineke of Alger; and three grandchildren: Savanah Fout of Sidney, Cody Hurst of Kentucky and Tyler Miranda of Sidney; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Bernie (Teresa) Rowe of LaFayette; two sisters: Rosie (Buster) Evans and Ethel Arnett all of Alger; and many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved. 

OCT 9 MEDIA RELEASE__The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle in Jackson Township, Allen County. The crash occurred on Napoleon Road near State Route 81 at approximately 4:32 a.m. this morning. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Napoleon Road when it struck a pedestrian who was in the northbound lane. The  Chevrolet Silverado was operated by Merl Hall, age 81, of Lafayette, Ohio. Mr. Hall was not injured in the crash.
