ARCADIA__The visiting Ada High School football team defeated Arcadia 38-28 in a Blanchard Valley Conference shootout opener Friday, August 28.
The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the BVC with their second straight road win. Arcadia fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in BVC play after the home loss.
“It was a good win for the team,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “We need to clean a bunch of things up if we want to keep winning. The kids played hard. Now we have to play hard with more discipline.”
The contest featured a back-and-forth battle between two potent offenses piloted by fine quarterbacks.

At this month's Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting, which is held at the center, Director Deb Curlis explained that 94,000 pounds of clothing has been processed by thrift store volunteers since January.
Therefore, in celebration of Labor Day, all will take a break during the first week of September and reopen on Tuesday, September 8.
Beatitudes is always looking for volunteers and has many different roles available.
ST. MARYS__The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team lost a 1-0 battle of unbeatens to St. Marys on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Ada boys fell to 3-1 after the close defeat. St. Marys improved to 4-0 with the hard-fought win.
“We lost but I thought we played well,” said Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “We had a defensive breakdown early in the first half that they took advantage of. Their player got a shot off from around the six-yard line, high to the near post, and found the back of the net.”
Neither team was able to score after intermission, as well as for most of the first half.
The 10th Annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival–MIAWFF in Icon shorthand–on Saturday, August 22 was a rock and roll celebration of all things football in Ada, Ohio. Participant feedback suggests that the festival has gotten bigger and better every year, thanks to the efforts of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

Because portions of our response area do not have access to fire hydrants, the ability to establish and maintain a reliable water supply is an important part of our fire suppression operations.
