In August, as McGuffey Mayor Ott and his wife slept, a bomb destroyed several windows and a wall of the house. No one was injured, but Union President Okey Odell was arrested for allegedly planning the attack, though he denied involvement. He was later dragged out of the jail by an anti-union mob who proceeded to beat him and threaten his life if the protests continued.

MEDIA RELEASE__OSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Educator Jami Dellifield has been recognized with the prestigious Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS).

Dellifield received the award on Thursday, October 1, during the NEAFCS National Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee.

ADA__The Ada High School girls soccer team blanked visiting Hardin County rival Kenton 3-0 in a non-league match on Thursday, Oct. 8 at War Memorial Stadium.

Sophomore Shay Smith scored two goals to pace the victors.

Ada improved to 12-1-2 with the home clean sheet win.

The Wildcats dropped to 3-11 after the road loss.

MEDIA RELEASE__The U.S. Department of Agriculture hs announced a $56 million Community Facilities Direct Loan Program to Ohio Northern University. The funds will finance a new 60,000 square-foot health and wellness center and the renovation of an 18,000 square-foot classroom and lab facility for exercise physiology and health sciences. These community facilities will serve students and local community members, expanding access to essential health and wellness services in rural Ohio.

The new center and renovated facility will expand access to essential health services in Ada while preparing for the next generation of health care professionals.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) has released a new explainer examining the role, benefits, and procedural steps of chartered municipalities in Ohio. Authored by Curtis Ware, Evan Kimmel, and Laureen Childs, the publication, titled "ICAPP Examines: Chartered Cities/Municipalities in Ohio," details how local communities can exercise Home Rule authority to tailor local government structure to community-specific needs.
