2024 Ada Code Enforcement Report
By Paula Pyzik Scott
Village of Ada Code Enforcement Officer Clayton Eichman presented his 2024 end of year report to council on January 21. He provided names, locations and notes on code violations (pages 17-31 of Council Packet).
Since beginning the role in September 2024, Eichman has opened 31 Code Violation cases and continued work on 16 cases carried over from the previous officer. He has closed 11 cases.
He notes that most violations were “chipped paint on houses, broken or flawed siding, damaged or lack of gutters/downspouts, and rotted wood observed on structures.” Eichman has also taken over Property Violations from the Ada Police Department.
A small number of cases deal with more serious safety issues such as structures that are leaning, roofs dropping or with holes, fire damage, and broken windows or holes that allow animals to enter.
The Zoning/code Activity Log provided with the report shows ownership by individuals, organizations and real estate companies. Notes indicated when properties were inspected, when conversations with owners or contractors took place, comments on conditions and when extensions were granted. At the council meeting, Eichman noted that he doesn’t ask folks to be working outside in cold weather.
