Drive-Thru Ashes at Ada First UMC on March 5
301 N. Main St. (Corner of Main St. and Highland Ave.)
11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Ada First United Methodist Church is extending a community invitation to its March 5 Drive-Thru Ash Wednesday observance. Past Brandi Rigsby shares, "As you enter the car port from Highland Street, you will experience the significance of Ash Wednesday through scripture reading, prayer, the imposition of ashes and a blessing, all from the comfort of your car. All are welcome!
"Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline.
"The use of ashes, in the sign of a cross on one’s forehead, is a sign of mortality and repentance and has a long history in Jewish and Christian worship. Historically, ashes have signified purification and sorrow for one’s sins."
