FOSTORIA__The Ada High School track and field team was down to one athlete at the Div. III northwest region 10 meet finals Friday, May 30, in Fostoria.

Ada senior speedster Logan Jolliff finished second in his 100-meter dash preliminary heat on May 28 with a time of 11.21 to qualify for the Friday evening finals.

Jolliff improved his time in the final by .17 to 11.04 and thus finished fourth to make it to the state meet in Columbus.

Sophomore Tripp Phoenix of Carey won the 100-meter finals in 10.95. McComb senior Haiden Ebright took second in 10.99. Evergreen sophomore Luke Woodring crossed the line third in 11.01.

Jolliff edged Oregon Cardinal Stritch junior King Wilson by less than a hundredth of a second after finishing in a virtual dead heat for fourth to advance to the state meet.

Hardin Northern junior Riley Newton was eliminated due to a false start.

A top-four regional finish qualifies an athlete or relay team to the state meet in Columbus next weekend at Ohio State University on the famed Jesse Owens Memorial track.

The Ada boys 4x100 relay quartet finished ninth out of 16 teams in the preliminary heats Wednesday to miss qualifying for the finals by just one spot.

The 4x200 Bulldog relay foursome of Jolliff, Oldfield, McGue and Brody Erickson came in 13th amid a field of 16 to miss regional final qualification by five spots Wednesday.

The Ada relay quartet ran a time of 1:34.61.

Bulldog sophomore Wyatt Fisher finished tied for 10th in the pole vault among the 16-man field. His best vault was 12-6.
