Ada tennis defeats Fostoria

ADA – The Ada High School boys tennis team beat visiting Fostoria in a lengthy 3-2 match on a sunny evening Wednesday, May 7 at War Memorial Park.
The Bulldogs improved to 3-4 after the hard-fought victory.
“We were missing our number two singles, so Brandon was bumped up to two and Luke Archer was bumped up to third singles,” explained Ada head coach Carter Bivens.
The lineup changes did not deter the Bulldogs from victory.
Ada senior Nathan Williams dominated at first singles as he rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Redman sophomore Landon Sherman.
“Nathan had a quick victory, decisive and clean,” said Givens.
Bulldog Brandon Prater came up with a big 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles over senior Thad Switzer-VandeVelde.
“Brandon Prater, who was playing up a spot, also played great,” Bivens noted. “He stayed cool and played very smart.”
Luke Archer lost a tough battle at third singles 0-6, 7-6, 7-6 (10-7).
“While Luke lost his match, it went for two hours and thirty minutes with two tiebreaker losses in the second and third sets,” said Bivens.
The Bulldog duo of Sam Crawford and Lawson Klingler lost 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles.
The Ada tandem of Mohamad Khalil and Rey Hurley triumphed 6-4, 6-2 at second doubles.
“Our second doubles won pretty decisively,” Bivens noted.
Ada plays in the Lima sectional May 15.
