VAN BUREN – The Ada High School track and field teams competed in their first 11-team Blanchard Valley Conference championship meet at Van Buren on Friday, May 16.

Ada senior sprinter Logan Jolliff finished fourth in the 100-meter dash to post the top Bulldog boys individual finish.

He also anchored the Ada 4x100 relay quartet, which came in third.

Junior Anna Conley (high jump) and freshman Rose Baxter (400 meters) each finished fifth to register the best Lady Bulldog individual finishes.

The Ada girls 4x400 relay foursome came in fourth.

The Bulldog boys finished eighth in the team standings, while the Ada girls also came in eighth.

By dominating the distance events, Liberty-Benton won the BVC boys team championship. The Eagles outscored second-place Van Buren, 155 points to 139.

McComb finished a strong third with 81 points. Arlington placed fourth with 76, ahead of fifth-place Riverdale (63).

Pandora-Gilboa (55.5), Leipsic, Ada (23), Elmwood (20), Vanlue (9.5) and Arcadia (0.5) completed the boys standings.

The host Van Buren girls squad edged Elmwood 135.5-126 to claim the first-ever BVC girls title for the Black Knights. 

Riverdale took third with 93 points, followed by Liberty-Benton (82) in fourth. Arlington came in fifth (49) and McComb was sixth (46), while Leipsic (40.5) finished seventh. 

Ada (36) ended up eighth, followed by Pandora-Gilboa (21), Arcadia (18) and Vanlue (13) to round out the girls standings.
