Bulldog Williams ousted at district tennis tourney

SANDUSKY – Ada High School senior Nathan Williams competed in the Div. II district tennis tournament at Tennis One in Sandusky on Wednesday, May 21.
The tournament was moved from an outdoor venue in Port Clinton due to rain.
In his round of 16 match, southpaw Williams lost to Ottawa Hills sophomore Chris Thompson 6-0, 6-0 and was eliminated.
“Nathan wanted to get to districts and we got there,” said Ada first-year head coach Carter Bivens. “Unfortunately, he had a rough match.”
Thompson then dropped his quarterfinal match in a third-set tiebreaker to the top seed in that quarter of the 16-player draw. The Ottawa Hills soph was the runner-up from the Bryan sectional.
Players needed to win two matches and advance to the district semifinals to qualify for the state tournament at Mason next week.
