MEDIA RELEASE— Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio, Inc. invites individuals, businesses, schools, churches and community organizations to support its annual Candy Drive, beginning Monday, September 28, and continuing through Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The agency is collecting all kinds of candy to distribute to children and families at numerous Trunk-or-Treat events throughout the counties it serves. The annual drive gives the community a fun way to support local youth while helping Big Brothers Big Sisters connect families with information about its mentoring programs.
MEDIA RELEASE__St. Mark Lutheran Church at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson Streets in Ada will be serving its Community Meal on Wednesday, September 30, from 5:00-6:30, or whenever the food runs out.
The meal is free and open to the public.
September menu: ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, fruit, and cookies.
You may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside service. There is a limit of 8 meals per vehicle or carry out unless you call in by noon on Tuesday to 419-792-0911.
Please come in for larger carry-out orders so that the drive-up line keeps moving.
This week ONU's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the Tony Award-winning musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The guest director and choreographer is Jenni Barber, who made her Broadway debut in this show.
Barber's Broadway credits include Beetlejuice, The Performers, The Nance (w/ Nathan Lane), Annie, Sunday In The Park with George, All My Sons (w/ Tracy Letts & Annette Bening), and as Glinda in Wicked.
Performances are October 1-4 at 7:30 p.m. and October 3-4 at 2:00 p.m.
MEDIA RELEASE__OhioMeansJobs Hardin County, in partnership with Apollo Career Center, is offering a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training program in Kenton at the Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center located at 117 Jacob Parrot Rd., Kenton, Ohio. The program begins November 2 through November 17, with classes held Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The training may be free for eligible students.
