Unconstitutional presidential action

Recent polling indicates that an overwhelming majority of Americans, including me, oppose the U.S. becoming directly involved in the Israel-Iran conflict. In addition, Congress was neither consulted nor granted the opportunity to approve the June 21 strikes on Iran, as required by both the Constitution and the 1973 War Powers Act.

This war with Iran was instigated by a President who has repeatedly shown poor judgment—just consider his erratic tariff behavior as one example.

Also, remember 2003, when President George W. Bush prematurely declared “Mission Accomplished”? Today’s President is making a similar premature claim stating that the Iranian target was “completely and totally obliterated”—a statement the Pentagon has not confirmed and which many military experts question. This strike could put us into another “forever war” against the expressed will of the majority of Americans.

I urge our regional Representatives, as well as Senators Husted and Moreno, to exercise your Constitutional authority to provide a necessary check on this irresponsible Executive action.

Our military deserves better. The American people deserve better.
