Funeral services on Monday, August 4
Lester E. Burkett, age 80, of Alger, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at his home.
He was born on July 7, 1945 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late James and Mag (VanHoose) Burkett. On December 6, 1979 Lester married Alma Howard and she survives in Alger.
Also surviving are his two sons: James “Eddie” Burkett of Alger and Jeffrey (Belle) Burkett of Urbana; stepson, Travis Howard of Alger; seven grandchildren: Brooke, Lexi, Morgan, Derek, Josh, Keaton and Gabe; seven great grandchildren; and five brothers-in-law: Esky Daniels, Kenneth “Buck” (Ann) Howard, Lonnie (Candy) Howard, Clyde (Brenda) Howard and Andy (Amy) Ray.
Lester was preceded in death by his brother, James Burkett and sister, Sue Daniels.
Lester retired from Whirlpool, Findlay after working for twenty-two years and also worked at Hilltop Energy in Vanlue. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1965-1967.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Rev. Tex Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, with graveside military services conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
