Bulldog golf 9th in 2nd BVC tourney

LIMA – The Ada High School boys golf team improved but finished ninth out of 10 teams at the second Blanchard Valley Conference tournament on Monday, August 18 at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Lima.
Victorious in the first league tourney Aug. 4, Van Buren won again with 300 strokes. Leipsic was second (313), followed by Liberty-Benton (316), Elmwood (347), Riverdale (359), McComb (376), Arcadia (380), Arlington (381).
Ada totaled 396 strokes to finish ninth again, 38 shots ahead of Pandora-Gilboa (434).
Van Buren has a running two-tourney BVC total of 613 to lead Liberty-Benton (651) by 38 strokes. Leipsic (672) is third. Ada has shot 437-396=833 so far through the first two BVC tourneys to sit ninth, 75 shots ahead of last-place P-G.
Junior Brody Rister led Ada with a solid 18-hole round of 43-46=89. Junor Lawson Klingler posted a 46-47=93 scorecard.
Senior Sam Crawford carded a 55-51=106. Freshman Arden Shook was the fourth Ada scorer with a 46-62=108 score.
“I believe it is our best 18 holes so far, so we are still making progress,” said new head coach Tod Schmidt.
Bulldog junior Gavin Guyton finished with a 61-63=124.
The third and final BVC tourney will be held Sept. 19 at Kalida’s Moose Landing.
Ada does not play again until Monday, August 25.
