Cathleen "Cathi" Ann Atkinson worked for Baumgartner Trucking
Cathleen "Cathi" Ann Atkinson, 67, of Olin, Iowa passed away in her home on August 10 from pancreatic cancer. She was lovingly cared for by her husband and daughter. Cathleen Winegardner was born August 19, 1957 to M Kurtis "Kurt" and Sundra "Sis" Winegardner of Harrod, Ohio. She graduated from Allen East High School in 1975 and gave birth to her son, Eric that summer and a daughter, Kelly in spring of 1981. They lived a short time in McAllen, Texas but mostly resided near Harrod. Cathi worked at Baumgartner Trucking where she later met the love of her life, Mark Atkinson. They married May 19, 1988 and then relocated near Hopkinton, Iowa before residing in Olin, Iowa for the next 31 years.
While able, Cathi enjoyed bowling, gardening, crocheting and reading. Her zucchini brownies, shenanigans and Canasta abilities were second to none. Although MS limited her body in recent decades, Cathi still enjoyed Cubs baseball, partaking in foul language and watching her shows with her best friend. Those close to her knew of her relentless faith in the Lord and will miss her strong will, gentle heart, and ornery spirit.
Cathi leaves behind her husband, Mark Atkinson of Olin, son Eric (Ryan) Winegardner and granddaughters Emma, Ellie, and Eva of Mason OH, daughter Kelly (Stephen) Kinney and grandsons Everett and Ellis of North Liberty, IA. She is survived by her mother "Sis" Winegardner, sister Carol (Bill) Myers, sister Chris (Tom) Bowersock, Brother Rusty (Stephanie) Winegardner, and sister Carrie (Tim) Skinner. Cathi was preceded in death by her Dad, "Kurt" Winegardner, brother Randy Winegardner, grandparents, her beloved Aunt Katherine "Kate" George and several uncles.
There will be a private ceremony of close family and Cathi will be laid to rest in Auglaize Cemetery in Harrod, Ohio.
Cathi's family would like to sincerely thank Jessica Quinn, her primary provider who always felt like family. They'd also like to thank the healthcare teams of Mercy Hospice, Mercy Hospital and UIHC for providing exceptional care and support.
