Bulldog boys soccer shuts out Fort Jennings
By Cort Reynolds
FT. JENNINGS – The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team defeated Fort Jennings 1-0 in a tight non-league match on Monday, September 8.
The clean sheet victory improved the Bulldog season record to 4-2-1.
The Musketeers fell to 2-4 with the close defeat.
“We earned a hard-fought victory on the road against a physically-gifted Ft. Jennings team,” said Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “They were big and strong. Our guys stood tall against them and their size.
”It was a gritty performance,” he noted. “We were able to capitalize on a key moment to come away with a win on the road.”
Neither team could dent the net for the first 73 minutes of play in the scoreless battle.
But then Ada junior Carson Conley tallied the game’s lone goal with just 6:20 left in the match off an assist by Lucas Henson.
“Carson finished a well-placed square ball from Lucas with a one-touch strike,” said Acheson. “Jacob Rush stood tall in goal and made some great saves for his team.
“The back four along with the mids supported each other well enough to secure the clean sheet,” he added.
Ada put 16 shots on goal compared to 13 by FJ.
Bulldog keeper Jacob Rush made 10 saves in goal.
