The Ada High School boys soccer team earned a second seed in their section of the 25-team Div. V Northwest District draw meeting on Sunday, October 5.

Ada (9-4-2) will host the winner between struggling Riverdale (3-12) and Lincolnview (2-9-1) in a sectional final on Saturday, October 18.

“We were excited to earn the number two seed,” said second-year Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “We had to wait and see which spot Ottoville would choose and once they selected B6, we knew B1 was the pick for us.

“We face Lincolnview Thursday and are already familiar with Riverdale. We are looking forward to hosting a sectional final,” he noted.

Ada whipped visiting Riverdale 4-1 back on September 10. The Bulldog boys play at former NWC foe Lincolnview this Thursday.

If Ada wins its sectional final, they would advance to the Elida district semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. against the Ft. Jennings (8-4-3)/Spencerville (1-10-2) winner.

Ada beat Spencerville 4-0 on Sept. 6 and edged Ft. Jennings 1-0 two days later on the road.

The Ada nine-team portion of the district finals will be held at Defiance on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.

Continental (11-1-2), Archbold (11-3-1) and Kalida (9-2-4) are the other powers lurking in the top half of Ada’s sectional. The Pirates and Archers play in a first round showdown, while Kalida hosts Pettisville (0-12-2)

Among the other local teams in the huge district are Cory-Rawson (2-14), Lima Central Catholic (2-11-1), New Knoxville (7-7-1), Ottoville (11-2-2) and Temple Christian Christian (5-7-2).

Ottoville was seeded first out of the rugged Putnam County League. The Big Green got a first round bye and will host New Knoxville or Cory-Rawson in a sectional final.

Continental, Kalida and Miller City (8-3-4) of the PCL are among the other top teams in the Northwest Div. V district. Van Buren (7-5-2) is also in the draw, as are Archbold and Evergreen (2-10-3) out of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.

Maumee Valley Country Day (11-0-1) the other top seed in the loaded lower half of the Northwest Div. V district field bracket. MVCD hosts Evergreen in the first round. Perennial power Ottawa Hills (6-7-2) is also in the lower half of the bracket.

Miller City takes on Van Buren in round one. Toledo Christian (9-4-2) hosts LCC.

If the seeds hold to form, Ottoville would face MVCD in their district final Oct. 23 at Norwalk.
