Joseph E. “Joey” Pope Sr. was a welder-fabricator
Joseph E. “Joey” Pope Sr., age 63, of Ada, passed away at his home on Friday, October 17, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 12, 1962, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Joseph Pope and Marcene (Zimmerman) Pope. On August 23, 1980, Joey married Linda Downing and she survives in Ada.
Also surviving are his four children: Joseph “Joe” (Heather) Pope, Jr., Justin (Nicole) Pope, Jordan (Beatrice) Pope and Jarita (Adam) Badertscher all of Ada; nineteen grandchildren; two brothers: John Pope and Bradley Pope; a sister, Tammy (Bill) Downing; several step brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Joey was preceded in death by his mother, Marcene, father and stepmother: Joe and Bonnie Pope; and two brothers: Daniel Pope and Kelly Pope.
Joey worked as a welder-fabricator for SRECO Flexible and Flexible Welding. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Joey liked fishing and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan. He enjoyed coaching his kids in Little League Baseball. Joey was extremely proud of his kids and grandkids.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
