The Ada Council held a regular meeting on the evening of October 7 with all members present and Mayor Dave Retterer presiding. The meeting packet is HERE.

A 20-minute executive session was held to discuss an employment item.

PUBLIC COMMENT
During the public comment portion of the meeting, three Ada residents were present and addressed Council. Five minutes are allowed for each person.

Pam Tenwalde reported on the no-parking signs posted across from the Gilbert St. EMS building. She said that the designated area was larger than promised. Village Administrator Amanda Sears said she would follow up. Mayor Retterer thanked Tenwalde for “being persistent, respectful and prepared.”

Council Candidate Lucas Rowe was also present.

Kevin Wagner provided Council with a flyer he is handing out, seeking public support for a flat water rate for residents and businesses. He said he has knocked on 30 doors and talked to five people, to see “if anybody cares.” Wagner said he has not yet contacted the Ohio Attorney General.

Village legal council Jane Napier reminded Wagner that he needs to address Council as a group rather than by email. She also reviewed staff workload and the fact that not everything is documented. 

Mayor Retterer wrapped up the discussion, noting that it had run over 10 minutes.

MAYOR’S COMMENTS

Mayor Retterer reported on attending the 2nd annual Ohio Bigfoot Jamboree on October 4 at War Memorial Park. He was impressed by the enthusiasm of vendors and was told, “You have a wonderful town.” He mused about Bigfoot, “If I haven’t seen him, I can’t prove that he doesn’t exist.”

RESOLUTIONS
Acting by emergency so a deadline could be met, Council approved accepting a bid from Jute Excavating for work at the Water Treatment Plant.

ORDINANCES
Council authorized the mayor to assess street lights in 2026. 

Council returned to Ordinance 47-2025, an ordinance prohibiting adult-use cannabis operations in the village, due to a procedural oversight at the September 16 meeting. With Sheila Coressel abstaining, Council approved a third reading. Napier noted that the ordinance was now in effect.

COMMITTEES

Sean Beck reported on Ohio Northern’s request for a sewer credit for approximately $1,500 associated with emptying and filling the university swimming pool. Beck said that none of the Village regulations quite fit this circumstance and scheduled a Utilities committee meeting for after the next council meeting.
