Recap of October 16 Ada School Board Meeting
By Paula Pyzik Scott
The Ada Board of Education met on Thursday, October 16 with the attached agenda. Board members heard reports from the superintendent, Julie Simmons, from Treasurer Kim LIght, and from principals Dan Lee and Angela Maag.
The board also discussions about student drop-off and War Memorial Park board meeting attendance.
The conversation about student drop-off indicated that for most of the morning drop-off period, the process works well. Tempers sometimes flare when adults are dropping off students at the last minute. The Superintendent noted that when people use the full curb area--rather than as close to the door as possible--to let out students, things go well. The use of messaging, cones and signs was discussed.
The board also discussed whether the Ada Schools should assign someone to attend Liberty Township Park Board meetings. The conversation touched on whether a board member or administrator should be considered. The need to provide feedback was discussed. The question was raised if the school-park contract includes this topic.
