Bulldog girls basketball loss to Liberty-Benton

ADA__The Ada High School girls basketball team lost 56-16 to visiting league-leader Liberty-Benton in a Blanchard Valley Conference contest on Thursday, January 8.

The Bulldog girls trailed 15-4 after the first period, and fell behind 21-7 at intermission.  

A 20-6 Eagle third period gave the visitors a commanding 41-13 cushion heading to the final period. L-B won the fourth quarter 15-3, and dominated the second half by a 35-9 count.   

The Bulldogs dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in the BVC after the home defeat.   

L-B improved to 10-3 overall and stayed first at 6-0 in the BVC with the convincing road win.  

Bulldog freshman Te’a Griffith led Ada with nine points as she sank their lone trey.

L-B placed four players in double figures. Freshman Emelia Kin led all scorers with 14 points on seven baskets. Megan Gerken canned three second-half triples as she netted 11 of her 13 points after intermission.

Freshman Sophie McDaniel tallied 12 markers. Corra Dehart, a 6-3 junior, added eight of her 10 points in the second half.

Kin made three field goals in the third period outburst, while Gerken added five points.

The Bulldog girls connected on five two-point goals, drained one triple and converted three of eight free throws (38 percent). 

The Eagles canned 20 two-pointers, drained five treys and sank one of five charity stripers (20 percent). 

Ada fell to 3-5 at home with the loss.
