Fatal head-on 2-vehicle crash on SR 68, March 2
MEDIA RELEASE__The Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 5:49 p.m. stating there was a two vehicle crash on St Rt 68 near St Rt 701. Upon the deputies' arrival, they found a 2004 Volkswagen Passat and a 2014 Buick Encore had collided head-on. Both vehicles were occupied only by the driver.
After investigation, it was determined that the southbound Volkswagen driven by 27-year-old Owen Bame of rural Dunkirk was struck head-on in the southbound lane.
The driver of the northbound Buick, 66-year-old Dori Spencer of Dunkirk, had traveled into the southbound lane and struck the vehicle of Mr. Bame head-on. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were BKP Ambulance District, Dunkirk Fire and EMS, Kenton Fire Department, the Hardin County Coroner's Office, as well as Minich Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
