Janet Elliott worked in banking
Janet Louise (Bailey) Elliott, 84, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2026.
She was born in Kenton, Ohio, on February 23, 1942, to the late Ollie and Christina Bailey. She was a 1960 graduate of Kenton High School.
Janet met her husband, Richard C. Elliott, while working at Essex Wire in Kenton, Ohio, and they were married on June 16, 1970. They shared 53 years of marriage together until his passing in July of 2023.
Janet began her banking career as a bank teller at Central Trust in Lancaster, Ohio. She continued her career in banking, working at the US Postal Credit Union and Western Credit Union in Columbus, Ohio, as a bank teller and customer care specialist. Upon retirement, Janet volunteered at the West School after-school care program, where she deeply loved working with the children. In her spare time, you would almost always find her in her sewing room working and creating something for someone she loved. Sewing meant so much to her, and she became very proficient at it throughout her life.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Bailey of Lancaster, Ohio; her sons, Darrold (LouAnn) Elliott of Glouster, Ohio, and Shane Elliott of Springboro, Ohio. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Marisa, Kyle, Rodney, and Makayla, and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Grayson, and Storm. She also leaves behind her beloved three Maltese fur babies, who meant the world to her and never liked to leave her side.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Bailey; her sister, Sharon Hamilton; and her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Dick Zeigler.
Janet will be remembered for her kindness, her generous heart and the love she shared with her family and friends. She especially cherished her lifelong friendships with her beloved “October Girls,” who meant so much to her through the years. She found joy in caring for others, whether through the time she spent with children, the many things she lovingly created in her sewing room, or the quiet moments spent with those she loved most.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A special heartfelt thank you goes out to nurse Shana from Fairhope Hospice for her special care and endless supply of “chocolate cookies.”
Janet is now reunited with the love of her life, Richard.
