Bulldog baseball loss to hard-hitting McComb

ADA__The Ada High School baseball team lost to visiting Blanchard Valley Conference foe McComb 24-1 in a league game on Wednesday, April 8.
The Panthers broke the game open with seven runs in the second inning, capped by a grand slam. The visitors then pushed nine more runs across home plate in the third to build a 17-0 lead.
The Bulldogs and McComb each scored a run in the fourth frame. The Panthers added six runs in the fifth to invoke the mercy rule.
The Bulldogs dropped to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the BVC with their first defeat. McComb improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in BVC play with the decisive victory.
The Panthers out-hit the Bulldogs, 18-5. The Bulldogs made six errors that led to nine unearned runs, while McComb committed no errors.
Left fielder Brody Rister singled twice and drew a walk to lead the Ada offense.
Catcher Andrew Allen singled and stole a base. Third baseman Robert Shanks and right fielder Logan Fleece each hit a single. Fleece also walked and drove in the lone Ada run.
Camden Swain swatted a grand slam, singled, drew a walk and drove in six runs to pace the Panther offense.
Grant Schaublin socked a triple, doubled, singled and knocked in three runs while scoring three. Luke Kern slapped four singles and drove in three runs while scoring three runs.
Winning pitcher Brayden Welty smacked a double, hit a single, walked twice and scored three runs. Cameron Smith singled twice and walked, was hit by a pitch, scored four times and walked. Kahle Drown rapped out a pair of singles, had four RBIs and tallied three runs.
McComb left seven runners on base, while Ada stranded six runners.
Ada won a forfeited game over visiting league foe Vanlue Monday, 13-3.
