Bulldog baseball loss vs. Liberty Benton in makeup game

FINDLAY__The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost 12-1 at Blanchard Valley Conference rival Liberty-Benton in a makeup game on a warm Thursday, April 16.
L-B raced in front with a seven-run first inning and never trailed. Ada plated its lone run in the top of the third frame, but the Eagles answered with three scores in the home half of the third.
Two more Eagle runs in the fourth inning eventually invoked the 10-run mercy rule after 4.5 frames.
The Bulldogs were out-hit 11-2 by L-B. Ada committed four errors, leading to five unearned runs.
Ada dropped to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the BVC with the road loss.
L-B improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in BVC play after the win. The Eagles are tied atop the league standings with Elmwood and Leipsic.
Brody Rister and Colt Archer each hit a single to provide the Bulldog hits. Thad Smith scored the lone Bulldog run. Andrew Allen drew a walk.
Gavin Guyton started on the mound for Ada and pitched three innings. He gave up seven hits and five earned runs, while striking out one with four walks. Archer hurled the final inning and allowed four hits and two runs with one whiff.
Ada left six runners on base, while the Eagles stranded nine baserunners.
Eagle winning hurler Kooper Leatherman allowed two hits and zero earned runs in five innings. He struck out nine and walked three. He also slugged two doubles and drove in three runs.
Reid Irwin swatted a double and two singles for two RBI, and he also scored twice. Corby Schworm doubled home two runs. Isaac Schworm slapped two singles, tallied two runs and stole two bases.
Eagle Mack Smith smacked two singles, had one RBI and scored two runs. He also swiped two bases.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to play NWCC leader Perry (4-2) at Dayton on Friday.
