LEIPSIC__The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost 10-0 to Blanchard Valley Conference co-leader Leipsic on Monday, April 20.
The Bulldogs fell behind 4-0 after the first inning. The Vikings tallied two runs in the second frame, then added three in the third.
A Leipsic run in the home fourth invoked the 10-run rule after Ada went scoreless in the top of the fifth.
The Bulldogs were out-hit 10-3 as Leipsic swatted four doubles. Ada committed two errors, and the Vikings made one miscue.
Ada dropped to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in BVC play with the road defeat. Leipsic improved to 6-5 and 5-0 in the BVC after the win. The Vikings are tied atop the league standings with Liberty-Benton at 5-0.
“Give Leipsic credit,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “They hit the ball really well, and we did not. We have to play our best baseball in order to compete against the better teams.”
Bulldog starting pitcher Mason Wibley pitched two innings and allowed six earned runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out two.
Xavier Smith singled twice, and Robert Shanks slapped a single for the other Ada hit.
Brody Rister hurled the final two frames in relief for the Bulldogs. He gave up three earned runs on four hits. He struck out one and walked one.
Viking third baseman John Dewar slugged three doubles, and drove in three runs while scoring three times.
Ada left six runners on base, while the Vikings stranded five baserunners. Andrew Allen, Wibley and Thad Smith were each hit by a pitch.
The Bulldogs play at BVC foe Van Buren (7-5, 2-1 BVC) on Wednesday.
