Bulldog softball run-rules Allen East

HARROD__The visiting Ada High School softball team dominated traditional backyard rival Allen East 12-0 in their annual non-conference grudge match on Thursday, April 23.

The Bulldogs jumped ahead with a run in the first inning, and they scored four times in the second. 

Ada tallied four runs in the fourth and three more crossed home in the fifth to enact the 10-run rule.

The Bulldogs out-hit the Mustangs, 10-1.

Ada improved to 14-2 overall with the road win. The Bulldogs are 5-1 in away games and 9-1 at home.  

AE dropped to 1-11 with the home defeat.

“Aubry pitched a good game,” said Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. “Reese, Maycie and Sophie hit the ball well.” 

Ada freshman Aubry Jordan hurled five innings of one-hit ball to earn the win. She struck out nine and did not walk a batter in an efficient performance.

Ada freshman Shay Smith Shay Smith walked and scored the first run.

Sophomore shortstop Emily Shanks drove in a second inning run with a sacrifice bunt.

Freshman Tea Griffith swatted a two-run double. Maycie Dewese drove in a run with a grounder to make it 5-0.

Ada then lengthened the lead to 12 runs behind RBI doubles from Reese Jordan and Summer Wibley.

Reese Jordan doubled twice and had one RBI while scoring three runs. She walked one.

Dewese singled twice and drove in three runs. Emily Shanks walked twice and scored a run. 

Griffith doubled home two runs and scored twice. Sophie Fleming singled two times and scored three runs. Smith singled in a run and walked once.

Wibley doubled in a run and scored. Alaine Buxton singled and scored one run. Aubry Jordan drew two walks.

Buxton, Dailah Preston, Brooklyn Roberts, Fleming and Reese Jordan each got hit by a pitch.

Hawk singled for the lone AE hit.

Lauren Wireman suffered the pitching loss. She allowed 12 hits and eight earned runs. She walked six and struck out five.

The Bulldogs have outscored their opposition 197-37 over 16 games, a 12.3-2.3 runs average margin per game.

The Ada girls return home to host MAC foe St. Henry (3-11) on Friday, April 24. The Redskins lost 10-0 at Botkins Thursday. 

The Bulldogs then visit tough Lincolnview (11-3) in a makeup game Saturday. The Lancers blanked Spencerville 13-0 Thursday.
