Don Spar honored by Scouting America's Great Oaks District
FROM FACEBOOK__[On April 15] we recognize our third and final 2026 Silver Beaver recipient, Don Spar of Great Oaks District, Scouting America.
For over 21 years, Don has been a dedicated direct-contact leader—and continues to serve even after his children have completed their Scouting journey. Always willing to step up, Don regularly volunteers for events, assists with planning, and ensures his Scouts never miss opportunities to serve their community—even when it means adjusting his own schedule.
Though not a Key Three member, Don actively participates in leadership discussions at the Scouters Conference, offering valuable insight and taking on action items to move the program forward.
His commitment to Scouting extends beyond leadership roles. Whether it’s fixing a garbage disposal at Camp Berry or quietly lending his time and talents wherever needed, Don consistently works behind the scenes to make the program better for everyone.
There are countless examples of his service—many unseen and unrecognized—because Don never seeks the spotlight. It’s that quiet, selfless dedication that makes him a truly deserving Silver Beaver candidate.
