SR 309 mirco surface project will cause lane closures May-July 2026
MEDIA RELEASE__ODOT District 1 has issued the following traffic advisory for Hardin County:
About the project
Micro surface State Route 309 between the Allen County line and the railroad west of Kenton, including the overlap section of State Route 235.

Temporary lane closures.
Micro surface
Micro surfacing is a maintenance practice used to slow down road wear, protect the surface from air and weather damage, fill small ruts and cracks, keep water out, and improve traction. A thin layer of pavement, about 1/4 – 3/8 inches thick, composed of polymer-modified asphalt emulsion, will be placed over the current pavement.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental law for these projects are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2020, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
