Bulldog baseball loss vs. Arcadia
By Cort Reynolds
ARCADIA__The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost to Arcadia 4-1 in a Blanchard Valley Conference makeup game on Monday, May 11.
Arcadia scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-0 early edge. The Redskins added a single run in the fourth to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Bulldogs tallied their lone run in the top of the sixth frame, but Arcadia matched it in the home sixth to provide the final margin.
“We need to limit the number of times we give the other team free outs,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “In order for us to win some of these tight ball games we have been in lately, we need to limit those free outs by putting the ball in play with two strikes.
”If we do that, we will win some of these,” he added.
The Bulldogs struck out 13 times in the loss.
The Redskins and Ada each knocked out five hits. The Bulldogs drew four walks and made three errors, while the Redskins coaxed seven bases on balls and made no errors.
Arcadia scored two unearned runs.
Ada dropped to 7-13 overall and 3-6 in BVC play after the road defeat.
Arcadia evened its records at 10-10 overall and 5-5 in the BVC with the home win to conclude its league slate.
