Bulldog golfers open season with 2nd place showing

ARLINGTON__The Ada High School varsity golf team teed off its regular season with a strong second-place showing at the 10-team Arlington Invitational on the Sycamore Springs Golf Course Thursday, July 30.
The Bulldog linksters finished only three strokes behind first-place Arcadia, 377-380.
Ada senior Brody Rister took second overall individually with a solid 18-hole score of 43-40=83.
“Remarkably, 57 strokes were cut from last year’s results,” said second-year Ada head coach Tod Schmidt of the Bulldog team improvement at the same event in 2026.
“New coach Isaac Myers brings a really strong skill set and a disciplined, structured coaching approach that sets a high standard for the linksters,” said Schmidt of his first-year assistant.
“With a historically large, talented and determined team, our finest days are in front of us,” he offered. Ada boasts a program-record 15 players on the squad this season.
Sophomore Arden Shook took second among Bulldog players with a 53-40=93 round. Junior Max Baumgartner was third by carding a 51-50-101. Senior Lawson Klingler registered a 53-50=103 as the fourth scorer.
Freshman Brooklyn Rister posted a 57-57=114 as the fifth Bulldog player.
Arcadia’s Aiden Cline won tournament medalist honors by shooting a 41-38=79.
Ada competes in the initial nine-team Blanchard Valley Conference tournament on Monday morning, August 3 at the Findlay Country Club.
