HARROD__The improved Ada High School boys golf team won a close quadrangular meet at Colonial Hills Golf Club in Harrod over Waynesfield-Goshen, Fort Jennings and McComb on Thursday, August 6. 

Ada tied W-G for first at 175 strokes apiece in regulation play. But the Bulldogs won the fifth-player tiebreaker as freshman Brooklyn Rister shot a 49 to clinch the match sweep.

Fort Jennings totaled 192 strokes, while McComb tallied 202.

The Bulldog linksters improved to 17-2 with the three wins. Ada was led by senior Brody Rister, who shot a nine-hole score of 40 to tie for third place overall in the field of 24 golfers. 

Panther Grant Schaublin and FJ’s Connor Leis shared match medalist status after each fired a 38.

Ada sophomore Arden Shook carded a solid round of 44. Case Vieira posted a 45 in his varsity debut, while senior Lawson Klingler shot 46 as the fourth Bulldog scorer.

Brooklyn Rister registered the playoff-winning 49 to outscore the 52 posted by W-G’s Brandon Jordan by three strokes. Junior Max Baumgartner also contributed a round of 50 for the balanced Bulldogs.

“Case is a competitor and a skilled golfer,” said second-year Ada head coach Tod Schmidt. “To fire a 45 in his first competition is quite remarkable, but not a surprise in the least.“
