Bulldog girls soccer win vs. Crestview
By Cort Reynolds
ADA – The Ada High School girls soccer team dominated visiting Crestview 7-0 in a non-league match at War Memorial Stadium on Monday night, August 24.
The Bulldog girls improved to 3-0-1 with the lopsided home win. Crestview fell to 0-1 with the loss.
Ada scored first on a Knight own goal and never was threatened. The Bulldogs out-shot the overmatched visitors, 29-0.
“It was a good night to get back home and under the lights,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “After our tie with Spencerville, the girls had some extra fire under them, and you could tell.
“We kept them buried in their end for the majority of the game until we had some younger players come in,” he recounted. “I was extremely pleased with the effort of Shay Smith, Chloe Hunsicker and Rose Baxter. It took us about 10 minutes to get a good flow going, but after that we looked pretty solid.”
Ada sophomore Shay Smith led the scoring parade with two goals. Netting one goal apiece were senior Kenley Poling, Rose Baxter, Chloe Hunsicker and sophomore Maycie Dewese.
Junior Baxter also dished out three assists.
The Ada girls have outscored their opposition 16-0 this season.
The Bulldog girls visit Ft. Jennings (1-2) on Wednesday, then host local rival Allen East (0-2) Saturday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m.
The Ada junior varsity will play St. Marys Tuesday evening.
“We are back on the varsity pitch against a Fort Jennings team Wednesday that will be looking to cause us problems on their home grass field, so a strong start to the week was important, and the ladies delivered,” Dewese noted.
