HARROD – The Ada High School golf team won a four-team match at the Colonial Golfers Club course in Harrod on Monday, August 31.

The Bulldogs shot 168 to win by 11 strokes. Elmwood came in second (179), followed by Arcadia (194) and Pandora-Gilboa (243).

Ada improved to 40-3 this season with the decisive wins.

Sophomore Arden Shook earned match medalist honors after shooting a remarkable 37.

Senior Brody Rister finished just one stroke behind him by carding a 38 as the Bulldogs swept the top two positions.

Rounding out Ada's top four scorers were sophomore Case Vieira with a 45, and freshman Brooklyn Rister, who contributed a solid 48.

“Arden's 37 is a significant event,” said Ada head coach Tod Schmidt. “He missed tying the long-standing school record by one stroke, which is remarkable for anyone, but especially an underclassman.

“His future with the Ada Bulldogs is something we will all enjoy watching, and he is working very hard at his craft,” he continued. “He wants to be the best and is willing to put in the time and effort. In just one year, he has gone from a new freshman to one of the best in our conference.

“Slightly lost in all the numbers is Brody Rister's fine 38, adding yet another round in the 30's, and placing him in the company of perhaps the top three to have ever played for Ada,” Schmidt noted. “As our season starts winding down, his legacy on the golf team is something he can be very proud of.

“Brody has a lot of natural ability, a flawless swing and he works very hard at his craft,” he remarked. “He always represents the school, the town, and his family in a respectable, professional manner.”

Ada is now idle in match play until Labor Day, September 7.
