James O. Dye, 89, died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at 11:46 a.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born on April 2, 1930, in Mud Lick, Kentucky, to the late John and Rusha (Blevins) Dye. On Dec. 21, 1951, James married Peach Wireman who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2012.

James retired from General Dynamics in 2003, where he worked as a welder. He was a member of the Ada Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God.  James loved listening to music. 

Grand reopening, re-dedication and dinner part of the celebration

The staff, volunteers and board of the ReStore Community Center invites
the community to join in celebration Tuesday, Sept. 10, as the Center celebrates its grand reopening and rededication under its new - and yet to be announced - name.

The decision was made by the ReStore’s board of directors to rename the center earlier this summer to differentiate itself from other national charities.

“(The ReStore) was born out of a feeling of love, and a desire to reach out an assist those in need,” Robert Kanzig, executive director, said.

“The hope always has been, and always will be to show any in need the love
and compassion demonstrated by Jesus Christ.”

Visiting Ada lost at defending league champion Spencerville 4-0 in the Northwest Conference opener Tuesday night.

Ada fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the NWC after the defeat, while Spencerville improved to 2-0 and 1-0 in league play with the win.

"We played very lethargic the entire game," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "Even with our poor first half play we were able to hold them scoreless."

After the teams battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime, the Bearcats tallied in the first five minutes of half two to take a 1-0 lead.

OTTAWA - The Ada golf team ended up third in a three-team Northwest Conference meet Tuesday hosted by Columbus Grove at Ottawa's Moose Landing Country Club.

Paulding won with 190 strokes, followed by Grove (204) and Ada (225).

Junior Brevin Sizemore led the purple and gold by carding a 53. Sophomore Dexter Woods posted a 57 while seniors Alex Morgan and Ethan Hull tallied scores of 56 and 59, respectively.

Bulldog junior Jacob Morgan also recorded a 59, while sophomore Kamron Wilkerson added a 74 to round out the Ada scores.

Hull regains starting QB job, will lead potent offense

ADA - Behind a potent offense, the 2019 Ada football team looks to rebound from an injury-plagued season as the Bulldogs come off their first sub-.500 campaign in 15 years.

A potentially explosive offense could help the Bulldogs return to playoff and league contention.

After winning their 2018 opener the injury bug bit Ada hard, and the purple and gold managed just one victory vs. Delphos Jefferson over the final nine games. The Bulldogs missed the playoffs for only the second time in the last 12 seasons.

However, there was a silver lining to all the tumult and adversity.
