The Made In Ada Wilson Football Festival has a T-shirt for you. The shirts, available from the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, will be available on Saturday while supplies last.

Winner receives $16,000 toward college tuition

The English Department at Ohio Northern University invites submissions to the ONU Single Poem Broadside contest, according to Dr. Jennifer Moore, associate professor of English at ONU.

The contest is open to all current high school  seniors. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1, 2019, and the winner will be notified by Nov. 15.

This scholarship opportunity provides $16,000 toward a student tuition at Ohio Northern University.

"We're inviting students from all around the country to submit one self-authored poem for the chance to win broadside publication of the poem," said Moore.

Here's a list of events announced at Ada's chamber breakfast

Autumn will be busy in Ada. That’s according to lots of information shared at the Aug. 21 Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Here’s an overview, provided by Jill Simons, chamber secretary.

• ONU's Welcome Fest is Sunday, Aug. 25, at King Horn Sports Center. It welcomes students to Ada and provides information on organizations and the community. The chamber has Pocket County small booklets from the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance to distribute. The information includes small businesses and national chains that offer merchandise and food in Hardin County.

Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival all day long - 10 p.m. football drop

If football is your "thing," then you'll want to attend Saturday's Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival."

Here's the all-day schedule:

The event begins with the Wilson Football Factory garage sale at 8 a.m. and concludes with the traditional football drop at 10 p.m. in the Ada Depot Park. It includes an array of activities throughout the day that are designed to appeal to football fans of all levels of interest.

The festival celebrates Ada’s contribution to the gridiron sport, as all footballs used in the National Football League are made in Ada’s Wilson Football Factory. The event is sponsored by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

Aubrey Madison contributed seven digs, three assists and two kills

ADA - The Ada volleyball team played well and very hard, but lost in straight sets to visiting power Coldwater Thursday night.

The hard-fought 25-10, 26-24, 25-15 loss dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 2-2. Coldwater improved to 2-0 with the win.

"We played our best match this season," said Bulldog second-year head coach Kyleigh Tabor. "Our hustle and defense was great. Our top seven showed a lot of heart."

The atmosphere was energized by a large and loud Ada student throng, which inspired the Lady Bulldogs to hustle all over the court from the very start of play.

Ohio Northern men's cross country team has been picked to finish third in the Ohio Athletic Conference in a poll conducted by the league's 10 coaches.

The Polar Bears received 64 points in the poll, trailing only Otterbein (80 points) and John Carroll (71 points).

ONU returns eight lettermen from last year's squad that posted a 97-29 record and finished third at the OAC Championships under 11th-year head coach Jason Maus.
