21 days and counting

Story update on Aug. 1 - Kindergarten orientation will be Monday, Aug. 19, at 5-5:30 and 6-6:30 p.m. Parents will receive a letter in the mail soon with their orientation time and their student's start date. Parents should bring supplies when they come to orientation.

When you remove July from the calendar you'll see that school is 21 days away and counting. Ada schools provided the Icon with lots of back-to-school details that follow;

• Ada Exempted Village School Open House is Monday, Aug. 19, from 6:30  to 8 p.m. 

• The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 21, with a full day planned for grades 1-12.

Ada Community Engagement (ACE) Day coming soon

Ohio Northern University is currently registering organizations, businesses and residents for its sixth annual Ada Community Engagement (ACE) Day to be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, according to Jacob Isaacson, ONU coordinator of student activities.

The ONU-aerospace connection

Following up on the  feature about Jed Marquart's visit to Cape Kennedy as a youngster, ONU's website features several alums who have professions in the aerospace industry. The shirt rack at ReStore takes on an artistic appearance when viewed from above. You might say it resembles an artist's color wheel.

The monthly free community meal returns to St. Mark Lutheran Church this month. The meal, open to the public, is from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, at the church in Ada.
