During pregnancy and breastfeeding

By Jennifer Hohman, MD

It is common knowledge that smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol can be harmful for an unborn baby. Unfortunately, many people do not realize how dangerous marijuana use can be to a pregnant mother and her baby as well.

Although marijuana is now legal in many states, it does not mean it is safe to use during pregnancy.

Several areas where community members may assist

The Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic board invites community members to assist in several areas of this year’s event, according to Yvonne Bonham and Eva Wolke.

This year's picnic is Saturday, Aug. 10.

Assistance is needed with the:
• parade
• prince and princess event
• hourly prize drawing
• merchants building
• entertainment
• set-up/tear-down

The board invites persons to attend its monthly meetings, which are on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the brick building at the corner of North Park and South Simon.

It’s shred week at Liberty National Bank Monday, May 6, through Friday, Saturday, May 11.

The bank helps in the fight against Identity theft and fraud by sponsoring the Free Shred Your Documents Week, allowing community members to safely dispose of sensitive documents.

“We are proud to offer this service free of charge as a way to give back to our communities,” said Ronald Zimmerly, Liberty president and CEO.

Did you ever want to dump a bucket of water on Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhardt? Ada elementary student had the chance on May 3.
