Liberty National Bank will participate in the Welcome Home Program, a grant sponsored by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, announced Ronald L. Zimmerly, Jr., bank president and CEO.
The Welcome Home Program assists eligible homebuyers with down payment or closing costs when purchasing or buying a home.
It provides up to $5,000 in grant money for low to moderate income homebuyers and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
New this year to the program: Honorably discharged veterans and active duty military homebuyers may receive Welcome Home grants up to $7,500.
State Representative Jon Cross (R-Kenton) announced his district office schedule to meet with constituents of Hancock, Hardin and (part of) Logan counties that make up the 83rd Ohio House district.
Locally, Rep. Cross will host district office hours each month at the main district libraries in Findlay, Kenton and Ada.
“It’s very important to stay connected to our communities and to the people of the 83rd district. I want to thank our libraries for allowing me to host office hours to meet with and assist constituents with state needs and discuss public policy,” he said.
The following dates are confirmed for February and March for Hardin County visits:
Over 600 sophomores in Apollo Career Center’s 11-member district will visit Apollo during 411Blast, Friday, Jan. 25. Ada students will visit Apollo during the afternoon session.
This day is designed to expose students to possibilities and paths that are available for their career and/or college success. Students choose two programs of interest and then spend one-half day visiting those labs, meeting the instructors and participating in fun, interactive demos and activities.
It provides students with more information to base their career decisions upon and gives them first-hand knowledge about the Career Center prior to priority enrollment which begins in February.

As the government shutdown continues, many employees are going on several weeks now without a paycheck. With the historic length of this shutdown, another major challenge for many families is that SNAP benefits through February are being released now and must last households through the end of February, with no current assurance on what will happen in March.
Due to this unique situation, many are faced with struggles they have never known before: how do you stretch your food dollar?
Mary K. Vermillion, 97, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at 10:14 a.m. at her son’s residence in Ada.
She was born on April 23, 1921, in Hardin County, Ohio, to the late Jesse and Rebecca (Jenkins) Warren. On Sept. 14, 1940, Mary married Frank C. Vermillion and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1998.
Mary previously worked for North Electric of Kenton for 13 years. She attended the Church on The Rock of Kenton.
