Ada travels to Ridgemont on Monday

ADA - Visiting Crestview ran out to a 15-2 lead and went on to defeat Ada 51-17 in Northwest Conference girls basketball action Thursday night.

The purple and gold girls fell to 1-14 and 0-4 in the NWC with the loss, while the Lady Knights improved to 8-5 and 3-2 in league play after the win.
Utilizing a fullcourt press, Crestview outscored Ada 15-2 in each of the first two periods to build an insurmountable lead.

Ada Baptist Church will host an American Red Cross blood drive later this month. The event is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28, at the church, 350 W. North Ave.

Join Hancock Park District staff on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwoods Nature Preserve’s Discovery Center for “Conjunction of Venus and Jupiter.” This means the two planets will have the same celestial longitude or be really close to each other in the night sky. The Moon will also be in the waning gibbous phase.

Martin Luther King Day always has special meaning in Ada because the civic rights leader spoke on the ONU campus. The date was Jan. 11, 1968.

Matt Francis, ONU's archivist, made available the text of King's speech in Taft gymnasium.

Her family was recognized as Scouting Family of the Year in Hardin County

Barbara J. Boedicker, 70, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at 2:31 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born on March 8, 1948, in Lima, Ohio, to Charles and Betty (Anspach) Shadley. Her father preceded her in death and her mother,  Betty, survives in rural LaFayette. On July 5, 1969, Barbara married Michael A. Boedicker and he survives in Ada.
