Ada's newest art piece is The Tower of Inspiration. It is located on the main floor of the new ONU engineering building. The artist is James Lehr Kennedy, entrepreneur, inventor and artist. He is the great-grandson of Henry Solomon Lehr, founder of ONU. He is also a major donor to the building, named the James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building. The sculpture changes colors as evident in the next photos in this series.

The United Way of Hardin County recently kicked off its campaign for 2020 with a goal of $195,000. Honorary chairs are Rodney and Linda Hensel.

"They are honored and excited to be a part of this campaign and are long time donors to United Way," said Phyllis Griffith of United Way. 

"They urge everyone to make a pledge and Live United. And, 99 cents of every dollar stays in Hardin County," she said.

Oct. 26 fundraiser for medical equipment and supplies for use abroad

The Ada Rotary will host a Family Fun Ride from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 26, on the Rotary Riverwalk/Ottawa River Bikeway in Lima, according to Laurie Laird of the club.

“The ride will be a fun, family-friendly bicycle ride that will help us raise awareness of and funding for M.E.S.A.,” she said. “It will begin and end at the Ottawa Metro Park off of State Route 81.”

M.E.S.A. stands for Medical Equipment Supplies Abroad and is a service project for the Rotary District 6600, which Ada’s club is a part of.

Each year before soybean harvest, county Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Educators conduct a county weed survey.  

Volleyball gets 18 kills from senior McKenna Jordan in 4-set victory

ADA — Senior McKenna Jordan (Toledo/Saint Ursula) had 18 kills to lead No. 12-ranked Ohio Northern to a 25-17, 25-27, 25-20, 25-11 victory over Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (15-3 overall, 3-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) extended their winning streak to nine matches with the win.

Senior Sydney Bapst (Grove City) added 14 kills and senior All-American Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) had 12 kills for ONU.

The Polar Bears went on a 6-1 run midway through Set 1 to grab a 20-14 lead. BW pulled within 21-17 but two kills by Huppert sparked a 4-0 run to give ONU the opening set.

The Ohio Northern Esports League of Legends team moved to 4-0 in its inaugural season with a decisive 2-0 victory over Mount Union on Tuesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears are also 4-0 in the Great Lakes Esports Conference.

ONU took control from the onset to win both games in the match.

Ohio Northern and Mount Union will square off in an Overwatch match on Wednesday at 6 pm.
