On the first day of early voting and with just four weeks until Election Day, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced 2,154,235 absentee ballot applications have been received by county boards of elections statewide.
This includes 21,570 requests from military and overseas voters whose absentee ballots began to be mailed Sept. 18.
All other absentee ballots were mailed on Oct. 6. Over the past week, 158,839 new absentee ballot requests were submitted by Ohio voters. Totals from early in-person voting will be included in next week’s release.

Ada school board will meet in its regular October meeting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14. The meeting is announced as a meeting and planning session.

KENTON - The Ada cross country teams competed in the eighth annual Kyle Althauser Invitational Thursday evening at the Kenton middle school.
The Bulldogs finished seventh in the eight-team meet with 157 points, ahead of Riverdale by 12 points. St. Marys won the meet with 54 points, followed by Hardin Northern (75) and Kenton (83).

MT. BLANCHARD - North Central Ohio Soccer Association leader Riverdale defeated visiting Ada 9-0 in a boys soccer match Thursday night.
The defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in NCOSA play. The Falcons improved to 12-2-1 overall and 5-0-1 in NCOSA action with the victory.
Ada plays at tough county rival Kenton (8-3-2) on Saturday, October 10 at 5 p.m. in a non-league bout.

SPENCERVILLE - The visiting Ada volleyball team swept Spencerville to win a Northwest Conference spike tilt Thursday night.
Ada won 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 to up the Lady Bulldog overall record to 8-10 overall and 2-5 in NWC play.
Spencerville fell to 2-15 and 0-7 in the NWC with the defeat.
Senior middle Megan Light led Ada with 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Versatile senior Miranda Wills amassed 12 digs, hit for seven kills and served three aces.
Junior setter Kirsten Poling passed out 23 assists and also came up with nine digs.
