Two major Ada streets are involved in major pavement repairs this week.
The project also includes installation of curb ramps and concrete sidewalks within the village of Ada.
On South Main the grinding takes the street down to the former brick Main Street of a century ago. A photo below reveals about 6 inches of pavement laid over the years since the street was bricked.
The streets are:
• State Route 81 between the western village limits and Township Road 55
• State Route 235 between the northern village limits and State Route 309
The work has turned much of Main Street into a one-lane roadway.
Patricia H. Kipker, 77, died on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at 5:43 p.m. at her residence in Ada.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1942 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Robert and Catherine (McNamara) Dimond. On Nov. 7, 1961, Patricia married Louis L. Kipker, Jr. and he survives in Ada.
Patricia retired from Hardin Hills Nursing Health Center, Kenton, where she worked as a nurse. She was also a volunteer EMT and Paramedic for Ada Emergency Services.

Men's soccer
Junior Zach Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) scored in the 71st minute to lead the Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at NAIA foe Huntington (Ind.) on Monday afternoon at King Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-2-1 with their third consecutive win.
The Foresters, who received votes in the latest NAIA poll, fall to 5-2-1 after seeing their 4-match win streak snapped.
It’s Harvest and Herb Festival weekend in Ada, with the event set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Main Street.
The 34th annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored festival should draw a large crowd. It will offer over 150 craft vendors (and growing daily), a kid’s area, parade, crowning of a festival queen and many food booths.
Helicopter flyover
Several new features are part of this year’s festival. The feature making the most noise is a scheduled flyover by a St. Rita’s-Mercy Health helicopter to signal the start of the 10 a.m. parade.
The Fleming sisters, Gabriella and Sophia, will carry the banner and lead Saturday's Harvest and Herb parade. This is the second set of twins given the honor at the annual Ada festival, and it appears to be a twin tradition in the making. The fifth grade sisters attend Ada elementary and are daughters of Garrett and Jennifer Fleming. Last year, Brian Marshall and his twin, Bruce, carried the parade banner - see next photo in this series. The parade starts at 10 a.m.

NEW KNOXVILLE - Despite an eight-day layoff, the Ada boys soccer team stayed hot on a warm Tuesday evening at New Knoxville.
The visiting Bulldog boys crushed the non-conference foe Rangers 6-1 to earn their sixth straight victory. Ada has not lost since August 21 at Kenton.
With the win, the Bulldog record improved to 6-2-1.
Junior Jacob Poling tallied another hat trick to pace the onslaught. Senior Skyler Williams netted a pair of goals and Carter Conley added the other score.
Senior Isaac Spar dished out three assists. Isaac Williams and Andrew Rush each passed out one assist.
