The Ada Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a hearing at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Ada depot to hear a varience request, according to Michael Harnishfeger, zoming inspector.
The request is by the owner of 522 N. Johnson St. The owner is requesting to add a garage to the rear (east) of his home, which will encroach into required setback to both sides (north and south).

It’s the second weekend of August. That means it’s time for the Farmers and Merchants Picnic. This year is the 106th annual picnic. And, as always, the schedule is full of family-oriented activities.
The coaches liked Ohio Northern slightly better than the media Tuesday at Ohio Athletic Conference Media Day at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. The Polar Bears were picked to finish fourth by the conference's coaches, while the media picked ONU fifth.
Northern garnered 52 points from the coaches vote, as national runner-up Mount Union was chosen to win the conference, reeling in 81 points and nine first-place votes. The Polar Bears collected 171 points from the media, and the Purple Raiders had 259 points and 26 first-place votes to sit atop that poll, as well.
ODOT is investigating the feasibility of installing an eastbound right turn lane from U.S. 30 onto Thayer Road as well as other alternatives to make the intersection safer.
Signage enhancements at the Thayer Road and U.S. 30 intersection northeast of Lima in Allen County will be made this week to provide additional information to motorists.
Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Allen County Engineer’s office met yesterday to discuss a recent trend of serious accidents at the intersection.
