On Friday, May 10, Deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover operation to monitor compliance with liquor sales laws among area businesses.
A total of 12 businesses throughout the county were monitored; they were located in Dunkirk, Forest, Ridgeway, Mt. Victory, McGuffey, Alger and Kenton. As a result, 2 summonses for selling alcohol to an underage person were issued to employees of 2 different businesses.
In addition to the individual charges, the cases will be forwarded to the Ohio Department of Public Safety Investigative Division for possible sanctions against the liquor permit holders.
Three Ohio Northern student-athletes have received qualifying bids to the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio from Thursday, May 23 to Saturday, May 25.
The Ada Kiwanis Club awarded academic scholarships to six members of the Ada High School graduating class of 2019 at the annual Senior Awards Honor Dinner on May 15.
Kiwanis President Joe Ferguson presented the scholarships to Kama Arn, Rob Allison, Raina England, Cade Mullins, Sumaya Tasnim and Keli Trudeau.
Ferguson said, “The Ada Kiwanis Club has been serving the Ada community for 95 years by raising funds for worthy causes. The International focus of Kiwanis International is “Serving the Children of the World.”
He added: "Our club has chosen to provide six academic scholarships to deserving students to help them realize their dreams.

Crimson Lane, 4600 County Road 1, Ada will host a craft beer and wine night from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, May 23, according to Jodi Willeke.
The evening features craft beers from Fat Heads, Moeller and Rhinegeist.
The event includes live music from Shifferly Road Band of Bluffton and a slow smokin’ barbecue food truck.
Crimson Lane opened this past winter. It hosts events such as weddings, anniversaries, reunions, and business conferences and meetings. It is located 3 miles north of Ada on the Hardin-Hancock County Line Road and 2.5 miles east of State Route 235.
Ada school board took several actions at its May 16 board meeting. The follow report includes some of that action from the school’s May Staff Notes, and is not officially approved board minutes.
The following affects the 2019-20 school year, involving contract approved -
• 15 certified staff contracts
• 4 classified staff contract
• Approximately 50 supplemental contracts
• 9 extended-service contracts
• 2 extended-service days
One resolution regarding reduction of force was approved.
Several additional substitute contracts and action involving the 2019-20 school year were approved.
