Council meeting summary for November 15, 2022

Expanded council chamber seating approved, long waits for new vehicles

At the Village of Ada Regular Council Meeting of November 15 (attended by the Icon via Zoom) Mayor Dave Retterer conducted the meeting beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call. All council members were present.

In the following action, all legislation was approved. The agenda and supporting documents are attached (Agenda, pages 1-2).

Council agenda for November 15, 2022

The Village of Ada has provided the attached packet of supporting materials includig an agenda for the Regular Council meeting of November 15, 2022.

The meeting may be attended in person at the Ada Municipal Building, 115 W. Buckeye, or via Zoom HERE.

The agenda includes the following legislation:

RESOLUTIONS
- A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Michael Harnishfeger for supplemental employment as Zoning Inspector.

- A resolution establishng a conveneince fee for payment of village fees and expenses.

Ada Schools report card from the State of Ohio, 2021-2022

In recent days, area school districts have issued report cards for students for the first nine weeks of the 2022-2023 school year and honor rolls are being issued.

School districts also received report cards in September 2022. The Ada Elementary and High School, as well as the Ada Exempted Village Schools received report cards that can be found at

In the district overview, Ada schools received:

Exceeds state standards in academic achievement

Evidence that the district met student growth expectations.

5/5 stars - Graduation
Significantly exceeds state standards in graduation rates.

3/5 stars - Early Literacy
Meets state standards in early literacy (K-3).

  • Arrest of a suspect in car thefts and break-ins
  • Research on proposed parallel parking on Buckeye near Main
  • October 29 community input session for neighborhood revitalization grant application
  • Research on new water metering systems

Ada Council meets on November 1

The Village of Ada council will hold a regular session at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1 in chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Building, 115 W. Buckeye.

October 19 School Board meeting summary

The Ada Board of Education held its October meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19. The meeting included 

  • Report from Apollo Career Center Superintendent Keith Horner
  • Report on a $4K fundraising drive by the Ada United Methodist Church
  • Plans to introduce 24 new employees at the November 7 Town & Gown banquet
  • Comments on the district’s state report card

ATTENDANCE
All board members were present: Amy Mullins - President, Ron Fleming, Matt Gossman, Ted Griffith and Steve Ramey. Staff present: Robin VanBuskirk - Superintendent, Kim Light - Treasurer, Dan Lee - High School Principal, Britton Devier - Assistant High School Principal, Jeremy Clark - Elementary School Principal.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
The board entered a confidential executive session to consider employment matters, resuming the regular session at 5:12 p.m. 

HEARING OF THE PUBLIC
Keith Horner, superintendent of the Apollo Career Center, presented an update to the board.
