Beatitudes receives business award from Ada chamber

Beatitudes, 210 N. Main St., Ada, is the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce outstanding  business of the year.

The announcement was made at the chamber’s annual luncheon meeting at The Inn at ONU on March 17 by Becky Neville, chamber board president.

What started in 2006 as a community center with the name of Restore has grown to an important pillar in the community. Now called Beatitudes, the center works as a community safety net, retail business and community center.

The hatching of spring is featured in the Mercantile on Main's window on Ada's Main Street. With spring arriving soon, this is one additional reminder. The store at 117 S. Main St., is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday.

These mindsets are based on our perception and response to failure and challenging tasks

By Amelia Alexander
As I promised in an earlier article, I’m writing an article about the growth mindset. In school, I learned about this mindset, and it has given me some perspective.

This may be oversimplified, so be sure to take what I say with a grain of salt.

There are two different mindsets. The growth mindset and the fixed mindset. These mindsets are based on our perception and response to failure and challenging tasks.

People who have a fixed mindset do not grow nearly as much as people who have a growth mindset because people with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities/intelligence is “fixed” or stagnant.

So, far, Ohio individual tax date remains April 15

The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced on March 17 that the federal income tax filing due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.

Ohio tax date remains unchanged: While certain tax deadlines were extended for 2020, currently all Ohio tax return filings and payment due dates remain unchanged for 2021. Should this change, the Icon will announce it.

There's a new store on Main Street. It's Pallet Girls, located in the former Reichert's storefront at 111-113 S. Main St. Click here for more details.
