Weekend doctor: COVID-19 Treatment with Bamlanivimab

Dr. Leah Eiden, Family Medicine
Bluffton Primary Care

“You’re getting the presidential treatment,” I told my professor friend who had COVID19.  He was one of the first in this area to receive bamlanivimab, another weapon in our fight against COVID.

You may have heard that former president Trump received an investigational antibody treatment when he had COVID.  Ben Carson also did. Carson said, “I am convinced [the antibody treatment] saved my life.”  The medication these men received was an IV infusion of antibodies that act specifically against COVID19.

The Power of Antioxidants

Living a healthy lifestyle seems to be getting more popular these days, especially now during the current pandemic in which we are living. Exercising and eating a balanced diet are just two pieces of a healthy lifestyle. When striving to eat a balanced diet, it is vital to consume foods containing antioxidants.

The word on everyone's lips these days. As family physicians working during a pandemic, we find ourselves studying the specifics of the COVID-19 vaccines and passing the information on to our patients, answering questions, giving advice, and discounting misinformation. Weekend doctor: Is the Covid-19 vaccine safe for pregnancy?

What does the data really show?

By Miguel Jordan, MD
Obstetrics & Gynecology

Concerns have come to my attention because a lot of misinformation has been spread on social media. I have heard claims that the COVID-19 vaccine can cause problems from infertility to miscarriage to even harm in the baby’s female reproductive system. All not true.
