Carpal tunnel syndrome can be a debilitating condition, affecting several facets of a patient’s daily life.
This condition is named after the area of the body that is affected: the wrist. The small rock bones of the wrist, called the carpal bones, make up the floor of the tunnel. A ligament, called the “transverse ligament,” makes up the roof of the tunnel. The tendons that flex the fingers, wrist and median nerve run through the tunnel.

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the ligament in the center of the knee that prevents the shin bone from separating from the thigh bone and prevents the knee from being stretched beyond its normal limits.
Healthy maintenance of this ligament is important, as an injury can be especially painful and disruptive. Neglecting a tear of this ligament can also lead to further damage such as cartilage tears and arthritis. Fortunately, here has been a new development in the technique of ACL reconstruction. The new procedure is called “All-inside ACL reconstruction.”

Neurosurgical Associates of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), recently installed an O-armTM Surgical Imaging System, an intraoperative 2D and 3D imaging system that is used to assist providers in placing hardware, removing cancerous activity and preforming a variety of procedures.
Used in conjunction with a navigation system, this system allows surgeons to receive a multidimensional view of the surgical location, improving accuracy and reducing the risk of injury. Spinal, orthopedic trauma, neurological and other types of imaging can be achieved with the O-armTM system.
