The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance released its current calendar of events taking place in Hardin County. The list follows:

Upcoming @ ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts

·         ONU Jazz Band - April 29, 7:30 pm
·         ONU Symphony - May 2, 7:30 pm The ONU Symphony closes out the year with an intense performance of the monumental Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4. Elizabeth Dreusedow, winner of the Concerto Competition, will present Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce's second annual Spring Fling takes place Saturday, May 3, and it includes lots of family-oriented activities.

The fling, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. takes place at the War Memorial Park. In the event of bad weather, it will be cancelled with no rain date.

Here's what's on the schedule:

• Horse and carriage rides
• Face painting
• Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club animal exhibit
• Ada Tree Commission tree planting
• Food

Huli Shallone, Baltimore, Md., native, a solo gospel and hip hop/rap artist, will perform at Main Street Live, 115 S. Main St., Ada, from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 27, according to Reggie Keller.

The performance is free and open to the public. Main Street Live is the Icon’s newest advertiser.

“Main Street Live provides music and comedy shows and also is available for corporate events,” said Keller, owner. “If a business wants to hold a meeting in Ada they can do it here. In addition, bookings are available for individuals or bands interested in performing.”

Peg Gordon, director, told The Icon, “This year’s production is unique because it has been student produced. All positions other than the director are filled by students.

Tickets are $3 for students and seniors, and $5 to the general public.

The Ada Public Library reminds teens from 7th through 12th grade that there's still tiem to read "This Dark Endeavor," by Kenneth Oppel. The library's Teen Book Group will discuss the book at 4 p.m., Thursday, April 17.
